Canadian firms, airG and Tagga, formally announced to the media on September 10 that the Vancouver based firms would be entering into a strategic partnership “to leverage the strength of each other’s products as well as partner on mutually beneficial marketing initiatives.”

To some people the two businesses might be seen as competitors but the companies have figured out a way to work together to create a mutually beneficial relationship. Tagga Media develops “cross-media campaigns with mobile” while airG creates “mobile communities and wireless social networking products” for the 18 to 30 year old demographic. The partnership will specifically call for airG to sell Tagga’s cross-channel campaign software and services while Tagga will sell airG’s rich mobile social advertising inventory. airG has a user base that spends 77 minutes every day playing the social games on offer, which enables the company to deliver 30 million messages to their audience through banners, video pre-roll, SMS, product placement and contests. This is a very attractive product for Tagga to sell to their own customers and in turn benefit both firms.

Founder of Tagga Media, Amielle Lake, was excited by the new partnership and stated that the deal, “allows us to offer a global advertising product to our growing client base. With mobile advertising, we can dramatically extend the reach of any campaign and demonstrate even better engagement rates. airG’s targeting capabilities are first class in the industry.”

The latest collaboration between the two firms is not something that materialized out of the blue. There already existed a strong relationship between the two Canadian firms and their top executives. For example, Tagga and airG worked on a campaign to push registration for Red Bull’s Quebec Crashed Ice Event. That positive experience led to another partnership where Tagga’s Lake and airG’s Director of Mobile Advertising, Omar Kaywan, traveled together to spread the message about their many products to potential customers. It seems the shared benefits had enough potential for the two firms and they formalized their relationship with the recently announced strategic partnership.
