Samsung will be looking to make the most of the upcoming shopping season announcing yesterday that they will be holding a launch party for the Galaxy Note II in New York on October 24. The Korean electronics manufacturer had already announced at IFA Berlin that the device was making its way to Canada and the U.S. sometime soon, but the launch party will be used to give out more details and create the necessary hype and marketing frenzy that the company will need to make the Galaxy Note II the hit it is expected to be.
In Canada the phablet will be available on Rogers, Telus, Bell, Wind, Mobilicity, Videotron and SaskTel.
South of the border the device will be available from US Cellular, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.
The Galaxy Note II is in a category that is not quite a smartphone and not really a tablet, earning its category busting moniker – phablet. This is a device that Samsung is pioneering and the company seems to want to repeats the success of its Galaxy SIII smartphone with the Note II.
From previous details it is known that the device will have a large 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display with 2GB RAM and a super fast 1.6Ghz quad-core Exynos processor. The ability to have lighting fast connectivity with LTE and a nice 8MP camera are also some features of the Galaxy Note II. Furthermore, it will have 16-64GB internal storage and a 3100mAh battery which should give the device a decent battery life. For gadget lovers the new Samsungs offering has some cool features including the fact that it will be the first in North America to have a quad-core SoC and LTE connectivity. The other unique feature is that the device is both touch and has a stylus known as the S Pen.
