The critical Christmas shopping season has become a battlefield for smartphone manufacturers and many have timed their new device releases to coincide with the holiday season. Apple has already released its super hot iPhone 5 and other manufacturers like Nokia and HTC are expected to release their offerings soon. Of course the rumor mills are running on full blast and news of the latest devices is hitting the interwebs all the time. The most recent speculation making the rounds is a piece from MoDaCo’s founder Paul O’Brien who has claimed that a new LG Nexus will be available for sale by the middle of November. O’Brien, who is considered a very solid source, has stated that the device will be based on the LG Optimus G but will not have the same design. The coolest feature the Nexus phone is expected to have is wireless charging.

The specifications for the Google powered phone have also surfaced and it is reported that the device will have a 1.5Ghz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor running the show, akin to the Optimus G. The display will be a 4.7-inch 1280×768 True IPS and the device should have 2GB RAM, an 8MP camera and 8 to 16GB internal storage with no removable memory. Most of these features are in line with other Nexus devices including a removable battery.

The specs will make the smartphone one of the fastest available on the market. Google and LG are also rumored to be adding an interesting feature that Nokia has been talking about for its Lumia 920: Wireless Charging. This should be available as a default feature for the rumored Nexus phone but there has been no confirmation if the wireless docking station will come with the phone. It might be a part of the package similar to Nokia’s plan of selling the docking station separately which may not convince customers to adopt the technology quickly.
