The pantheon of absurd phone bills has met what can only be described as the most ridiculous bill ever sent to a customer. French telecommunications firm Bouygues Telecom had notified their customer Solenne San Jose that they would charge her a fee for terminating a mobile contract before her contract was up, a common industr practice.  What they failed to disclose to San Jose was just how much she and her future generations would be paying for closing the contract.

When San Jose saw the bill for 11,721,000,000,000,000 Euros sent to her by Bouygues, she was completely shocked due in large part to the fact that this gigantic amount was 200 times the entire world’s fiscal output last year.
The most shocking part of this tale is that when San Jose called on the authorities and explained them that they had sent her a $15 quadrillion bill for terminating a contract before time, the company failed to immediately agree with her because they were not convinced that this huge amount cropped up as a result of an error.

According to San Jose, “One operator told me: ‘It’s automatic, there is nothing I can do.’ Another simply informed me that I would be contacted to set up a repayment plan of instalments.”

Currently, no single person in this his world could even think about paying such a debt in instalments. Therefore, San Jose made several calls following the absurd solution offered by the operator and eventually her efforts bore fruit as Bouygues finally admitted that the bill was a slip-up. In addition to this, the telecom company also let the poor woman know that her actual bill was of 117.21, many commas away from her sticker shock original bill.
