Good news for those of you who reside in Toronto. Microsoft has announced that they will soon open their first ever retail site in Canada (TQ was on it). And for this very purpose, Microsoft has already chosen a spot, the famous Yorkdale Mall which seems to get busier with the passing months.

In addition to this, Microsoft is also planning to open “pop-up” stores across Canada to help promote and sell the company’s latest devices and software. According to initial reports the number of “pop-up” stores is limited to four and they will be opened in different malls across the country. These “pop-up” stores in Canada will have uniform designs and will begin their operations on October 26, 2012.

The idea behind opening these “pop-up” stores by Microsoft was that “these holiday stores will allow customers to have hands-on experience with and identify the best Microsoft products for their personal and gift-giving needs.”

Since these “pop-up” stores are like booths, they will aim to introduce, demo and eventually sell customers the latest Microsoft Surface tablet. The hype that the Surface has successfully managed to create so far has made observers believe that these “pop-up” booths from Microsoft will be able lure a lot of Canadians. Some of these same observers have also pointed at consumers consistent requests for “pop-up” store location at their upcoming popularity.

According to the latest update, of these fours “pop-up” stores one is set up in Edmonton and other is to be found in Burnaby. However, so far there is no update on the price of the Surface. As per speculations the 32GB version of Surface with Windows RT version will cost Canadians about $399.
