The Ottawa Citizen has reported that local startup, Source Metrics, has gained $1.6 million in funding to help market its products. The Ottawa based Source Metrics is a social marketing optimization and analytics platform that allows its users to publish on numerous social media sites while also reporting on the results of those efforts. Source Metrics has a very solid pedigree and was founded by Scott Lake, the co-founder of ecommerce success story Shopify. With its headquarters located in ByWard Market the startup got the cash injection from financing that was led by GrowthWorks and the Federal Economic Development Agency of Southern Ontario.

Source Metrics says that it helps its customer “generate more leads, make more sales and increase the ROI of their social marketing campaigns.” The company does this by giving users an integrated platform from where they can handle all their social media tasks and campaigns. Users can easily and quickly “publish, promote, listen and analyze their social marketing efforts” in real time so that they can react and take advantage of opportunities immediately.

Currently the site and its products are in Beta mode but should be ready for full release once the firm believes its product is ready.
