WonderVoice launched its voice based iOS app for social networking earlier this month. The Tel-Aviv based start-up has developed an intelligent voice platform that lets users communicate with social networking site Facebook. The app work on voice commands and also has a number of other features including the ability to read News Feed posts, messages as well as the Events calendar. A user can also update their status, check out who is online or in close proximity to their exact location thanks to WonderVoice’s focus on Facebook’s abilities. The Israeli company has also utilized 8Tracks and Spotify so that their customers can give voice commands to play music on the social platform.

The main selling point for WonderVoice is that it is a great tool for people that want a hands free way to check up on Facebook while they drive. A lot of us spend a tremendous amount of time driving to and from work and other locations and niche apps like WonderVoice will help users utilize that time more productively.

However as usual, one of the main hurdles any voice application faces is voice comprehension. This issue is expected to improve as more and more companies develop more complete software and applications. WonderVoice has developed a technology that uses “big data” to help the app comprehend real world dialogue. For example, most voice engines will stumble on acronyms and slang due to a lack of words to draw from, but WonderVoice has been developed to specifically handle these issues.

Gal Melamed, WonderVoice founder, explains that competitors are no way near the interactivity that his app offers. Others may read out text from Facebook but do not allow users to interact with the social network using their voice intelligently. WonderVoice also has an innovative listening feature which lets users speak naturally. Melamed explains this by saying that, “We are crunching a lot of data in order to create a voice interface which is optimized for a specific domain – and by domain I mean like Facebook, Foursquare, etc. By combining that information with personal information and location information, we’re trying to build you a new type of voice interface where you basically have uniqueness.”

WonderVoice currently has their product on the iTunes store as a paid app. They are working on an Android version and are also looking at adding Twitter and Foursquare to their app. Melamed says that, “Our vision is to enable a true hands-free experience. We want to be the hub for all social networks and communication.”
