Just like other industries, the automotive world is also bringing in new reforms in their approach towards both car manufacturing and driving through technology in order to add more ability and value to their products. As a result of that, today we can already see numerous auto manufacturing firms using computerized systems and robots to manufacture their cars.

The next step in this course is that automobile manufacturing companies are looking to produce vehicles that can be driven without a human driver. Google has been testing such cars in the United States of America, but so far nothing truly productive has come to the forefront.

However, Nissan a famous Japanese car maker has recently announced that they are ready to mass produce cars that are equipped with latest computerized system that have the capability to avoid any possible collisions or obstacles by taking over control of the driving requirements from the driver. The company is planning to launch this new automotive technology in their new cars from next year, according to the sources.

The aforementioned system that is being installed in the new Nissans is called Autonomous Emergency Steering System (AESS) and it use not only cameras mounted on vehicles, but also a radar and five laser scanners to perceive any possible car accident situation. If such a situation arises, AESS  suggests a clear course to the driver in order to avoid any accidents. However, if the driver fails to respond right away, this system takes over and steers away from the imminent crash or stops the vehicle by applying the brakes automatically.

There is no actual mechanical connection between the controls and steering system of the car in this one of its kind automotive technology, as the whole system will be computerised. Furthermore to reduce the risk, Nissan will also install backup units to control cars in case AESS fails.

However, AESS will not be installed in all forthcoming Nissan models, nor will they will be offering it as an optional system that people can purchase to upgrade their cars. According to initial reports, the system will most likely be left to Nissan’s luxury line of vehicles, manufactured under the Infiniti moniker.
