When Facebook launched its Open Graph platform last year they blew the trumpet that this new platform would become a big hit. Only 13 months have passed and this prediction has already come true. The leading social networking website released the astonishing stats of the social growth of their partner services that have benefited greatly from its Open Graph platform.

According to these latest figures, nearly 62.6 million songs were streamed by the users of Facebook via Timeline music apps from September 2011 till October 2012. This is a huge feat for Facebook as the social network website managed to do so in just 13 months.

The purpose of the Open Graph platform was to allow third party apps to connect with Facebook, thereby allowing users to effortlessly share their songs with their friends while listening to their own music or that of their friends’ playlists.

This terrific platform has not only raised the significance of Facebook, but it has also benefitted the third-party app makers who have been able to drag a lot of traffic through this service. One of the most benefitted apps from this service is 8tracks, an internet radio playlist app.

According to Lincoln Hochberg of Facebook, “8tracks users generate four million shares back to Facebook weekly, resulting in 65 million story impressions, with Facebook now ranking as one of 8tracks’ major sources of referral traffic.”

Apart from 8tracks, Songza and Spotify have also managed to lure lot of traffic through this service from Facebook. According to an estimate, Songza got 1 million referrals from Facebook users within 30 days.
