Every year the Canadian Innovation Exchange reveals its picks for the CIX top 20 and this year it did so on November 6. The list is a compilation of the 20 best digital media, information and communication technology firms working in Canada. The reveal took place in Toronto and it was a pleasant surprise that many of the companies making it on to this year’s CIX top 20 also hail from the same city.
The CIX top 20 is considered by many observers within the industry as a very good indicator of which firms will have a bright future thanks to previous success stories. Some of the hottest and most innovative startups in Canada have been part of the list including Rypple, Tungle, Wave Accounting and Wattpad. Some of these firms have been acquired by major players while others have raised large amounts in VC funds. All of the firms on the list will be brought together at a CIX event in Toronto on November 27. The venue was meant to let tech entrepreneurs, investors, service providers and government representatives network and get to know each other.
