A lot of people around the world have been anxiously awaiting the release of smartphones that are powered by Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8. The main reason behind this anticipation is that markets are filled with a myriad of iOS and Android based devices, resulting in many people longing for something different. The best get away for such people is the release of Windows based mobile phones.
Although three major mobile hardware companies Nokia, HTC and Samsung have already announced their Windows based devices some time ago, they have yet to be released in Canada. Now in their latest announcement, Microsoft has declared that the, “Nokia 920 and HTC 8X will bee launching Nov 12 with Rogers.”
The long wait for Canadians is almost up, as they will bbe able to get their hands on the HTC 8X and Nokia Lumia 920 within the week. There are a few fortunate people in Canadian who had already received the well received Nokia Lumia 920 two weeks ago as Rogers had “shipped a limited supply” to “select stores” in the country. However, the HTC 8X on the other hand did not get any such exclusivity. Bell, another Canadian carrier will launch the 8X three days after Rogers on November 15.
To the extent that prices of these Windows based phones are concerned, there is still no word on the what the 8GB and 16GB versions of the 8X will be, however the Lumia 920 will be available on a three year contract for $99.99 with a three year contract and $549.99 on a month to month basis.
On a related note, the launch date for Samsung’s Windows based smartphone, the ATIV S remains unknown, as none of the carriers in the country have made any announcements. It is believed that this smartphone will be out for sale in a couple of weeks time, in line with peak holiday shopping.
