We all know Apple has mastered the art of working on various major projects simultaneously, sometimes launching updated versions of their own devices before their competitor has had a chance to launch one such device.

However, apart from mobile and computing assignments, the Cupertino Company is working on another major project this of a different kind. This new project is the development of new state of the art spaceship-like headquarters that is now not expected to be finished till the mid of 2016.

This means that Apple’s new headquarter will be completed much later than was originally anticipated because as per the original proposal presented by the late Steve Jobs himself, the leading tech company supposes to move into their new office by 2015. The actual work was to begin on the project later this year, however that now has also been delayed until the 2013 year.

It was learnt through sources that in August of this year, Apple informed the city that they will update their original plan in September. However, Apple submitted their updated plan in November 14 and will now sit back and wait as it goes through an environment impact analysis, which is not expected to be completed until June 2013.

As the city manager, David Brandt told that, “They [Apple] could conceivably break ground in 2013, but only if everything goes smoothly. The project is running a little bit slowly.”

The main causes of this delay are several changes that Apple had made in their recently submitted proposal to the city, which had deferred the original plan. Explaining the reason behind this delay, Apple’s spokeswoman, Amy Bessette told that, “Apple Campus 2 will be a new home for our company and an important part of the lives of more than 12,000 Apple employees. With that in mind, we have approached this project with the same care and attention to detail we pay when designing any Apple product. We look forward to moving the project forward with the city and beginning construction.”

This spaceship-like campus will be the biggest building in the entire world, as it covers 2.8 million square feet of area and 14,200 parking spots within this workplace. The structure of this building will be mainly constructed from glass and it will be surrounded by the scenery of grass and trees. The updated plan of Apple is expected to be posted after Thanksgiving as per city plans.
