Canadians who have bought the recently released Samsung Galaxy S III are using Android OS v4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. As you can imagine or even understand from personal experience, users in Canada are eagerly awaiting the latest version of Android Operating System – 4.1 Jelly Bean. Rogers, the largest Canadian carrier had previously stated  in an official release that the latest Android operating system for Galaxy S III would be made available in “late November”, whereas the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note will be able to land the latest edition in “Late December”.

However, at the end of this official release Rogers also mentioned that “the release dates are subject to change.” At that time not many readers paid much attention to this note, however the latest developments suggests that this note from Rogers for the Samsung Galaxy S III was an important one. Rogers has updated its release date status of latest Android OS 4.1 Jelly Bean for Galaxy S III users from “Late November” to “Early December”.

The Canadian carrier did not mention any reasons for this delay, but Samsung Canada has made a promise to Canadians that this new OS will surely arrive “before the holidays”. This new update must have crushed the hearts of several Galaxy S III users who have been excitedly awaiting the release of Jelly Bean 4.1 at the end of November.   So far other Canadian carriers have not echoed the same estimation about the release of Android Jelly Bean 4.1. Therefore, there is still a slight chance that Canadians may see Jelly Bean 4.1 before December, however the likelihood of such a thing is slim.
