General Motors has made it public that three upcoming models from the American car manufacturer will have integration with Siri, Apple’s popular voice activated personal assistant. Details reveal that two versions of the Chevrolet Spark and the Sonic LTZ and Sonic RS will have the ability to connect to an iPhone running iOS6. Bluetooth will enable the Apple smartphone to hook up with the MyLink infotainment system but the auto manufacturer has not mentioned if the connectivity will also stretch to Apple’s iPad tablet.

Connecting the iPhone to GM’s cars allows the user to run several functionalities including voice controlled and hands-free phone calls. Other features will include sending messages, checking the events calendar, listening to iTunes and utilizing the Siri concierge service.

Interestingly, owners of the Cadillac XTS, which is another GM built car, will have heard Siri’s voice in their cars already because Apple’s Siri and the speech recognition technology in the XTS are built by the same company, Nuance Communications.

Other car manufacturers including Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar have also stated that they will be including iPhone integration into their cars. As of right now it seems that GM has beat its competitors to the punch an will be the first to deliver a car that has the functionality.
