It seems that Google is following an aggressive business policy, as the search engine giant is looking to acquire various businesses nowadays in an attempt to bolster its already impressive portfolio. The most recent acquisition made by this multinational corporation was of coupon marketing company named Incentive Targeting that took place in the last week.
More recently, Google has purchased Canadian startup BufferBox for $17 million. The Waterloo based startup has already been doing business for about two years and follows similar business model to that being used by Amazon Lockers. With this new association, Google is gearing up to give Amazon a tough time in this business sector as well.
As far as BufferBox’s business model, the Waterloo based startup is designed for purchasers of online goods who believe that are likely not be at home or the office to receive their couriered packages, gifts or other important documents via mail. Rather putting such deliveries at risk, BufferBox allows clients to sign-up with the service and ship their packages or mail to a colourful Bufferbox mailbox conveniently located in transit hubs nearby so that they can pick up the safely kept parcel at their earliest convenience.
The idea behind BufferBox was developed with online consumers in mind; providing said purchasers with a self serve, automated parcel pick up service, a trusted and convenient substitute for home delivery.
The purchaser gets to know about the pickup the moment their package arrives in the BufferBox through an email that also includes an exclusive and one-time use code which client are required to use if they want to retrieve their parcel from BufferBox.
