Lower than expected sales of their Surface tablets did not cause dejection to the world’s leading software developing company, Microsoft Corp., something that can be clearly judged from its most recent move. The operating system giant announced late last week that the corporation is set to make the Surface tablets powered by Windows 8 Pro available for sale in January 2013.
The American multinational corporation will release two different models of the Surface Pro tablet and both stand alone versions will have the Surface Pen and Palm Block technology. Microsoft has also released the specifications and price details of the Surface Pro tablet in this announcement. According to which the entry-level device is priced $899.
This means that the entry-level Pro tablet will be $400 more expensive than the earlier released entry level Surface RT device. However, this noticeable price difference was set because the upcoming tablet offers more pro edition advantages to the consumers than Surface RT. One of the major advantages of the Pro device will be that it will feature better specs than its predecessor. This includes an Intel Core i5 processor along with 4GB of RAM in contrast the previous Surface tablet has just 2GB RAM and it was powered by Quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3. Similarly, the Pro has better storage capacity, as its entry-level device starts with 64GB, whereas the RT has just 32GB storage space.
Another drawback of the Surface RT was that its operating system can download limited apps from the Windows 8 app store that has now got over 20,000 apps with more along the way. Due to this limitation, small and medium business operators would struggle to use the Surface RT as business tool because it cannot install programs that they may be using on their PCs. However, the Pro tablet has the full edition of Windows 8, making the device a true tablet computer.
Those looking for a powerful device with deep Microsoft integration should consider the Pro series of Microsoft’s tablet.
