Although, Android based smartphones have seen more growth as compared to iOS devices over the past year, they remain second in terms of marketing clout. According to the mobile ad network Adfonic who recently released their 3rd quarter report called Global AdMetrics, advertisers around the world still long for the iPhone more than any other device.

According to said report, Android is sitting pretty with a market share of 75 percent, but when it comes to ad impressions, the California based Apple Inc’s iPad, iPod and iPhone are at the top, increasing in relative popularity by three percent. Android on the other hand failed to maintain its previous level, losing one percentage point.

Of all the ad impressions that Adfonic had sold, 26 percent of them featured iPhone. With this percentage, the iPhone became one of the most famous devices in advertisers’ circles, whereas the iPad grasped the second spot with 7 percent points and the iPod Touch gained the third position with 4 percent points.

In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy S II got 4 percent points of all ad impressions with the latest edition Galaxy S III was acquiring just 1 percentage point. Similarly when it comes to tablets, Apple is once again in the lead, as its iPad stands out with 63 percent points after beating nine Android based slates, which together account for just 20 percent of ad impressions.

The click through rate (CTR) of Apple’s devices on ads is again higher than the Android powered gadgets, as iOS devices have achieved 1.12 points against Android’s 1.08. However, Samsung’s Android devices have a higher CTR than Apple, as it marked 1.28 percent points.

Nonetheless, to outclass Apple in this field, Samsung still requires a lot more influential figures than this, as iOS devices are not only ruling inSouth and North America, but they are also at the top in the other continents; Europe with 31.6 percent and Asia with 32.9 percent  and even in Africa with 22.7 percent points on ad impressions.
