Well known social game developer, Kixeye has marched into Canada and made a significant splash hiring former Zynga Director of Development Clayton Stark as their General Manager. For those who do not know, the two companies have some bad blood between them stemming from an old skirmish, as Zynga filed a law suit against Kixeye and their ex-employee Alan Patmore for pilfering trade secrets after he became an employee of Kixeye.

With the hiring of Stark it appears that the clash between the two companies will only grow in intensity because with the assistance of their new general manager, Kixeye will soon open its second game developing studio in Victoria, British Columbia. The social game developer has also opened another office in Brisbane, Australia. Moreover, the company is vigorously hiring more staff members for their third office in order start work on special projects.

According to Stark, “Victoria is exploding with engineering talent and is one of the largest tech hubs outside of Silicon Valley, especially for game companies. It’s also consistently ranked among the most beautiful cities in the world, and we’re setting up KIXEYE Canada right along the inner harbor at Bastion Square. For developers, it doesn’t get any better than working on projects they’re super passionate about, and having an incredible amount of fun while doing it.”

CEO of Kixeye, Will Harbin also holds a similar pro Canuck view, adding that, “Our search for top talent is not limited by international boundaries. Victoria is a hotbed of technical talent and Clayton and his team have aggressive goals to expand KIXEYE Canada.”

The San Francisco based company expects Stark to hire 50 employees for their new office by the next year. Hopefully Stark will not repeat the mistake that Patmore had done in getting his new employer into legal hot water.
