Mobile photo sharing social network, Instagram, disabled Twitter cards so that users would migrate to the Facebook owned service. This has caused Instagram pictures appearing in Twitter to become distorted. Now it seems that images from the photo streaming site have completely disappeared and appear in the Twitter native web client.
Instagram image links will just appear as links in Twitter and will not show any images. People that want the images back and want to see those images instantly they can get the upcoming Twitter version. This is expected to come out right before Christmas and will let users view the images without the Twitter card support.
In a blog post from Twitter the company confirmed that the reason the images were not showing up was because Instagram had completely shut off card support. The rivalry between Twitter and Instagram has been heating up the two sites are competing for a share of a similar user base. Twitter is a more text based system or micro blogging site while Instagram is an image based photo sharing site. With the recent acquisition of Instagram by Facebook the site has grown tremendously and it has also seen a lot of changes and integration with Facebook.
