In a blog post on December 11, Yahoo’s new CEO Marissa Mayer announced the redesign of Yahoo Mail. The former Google executive mentioned in her post that the updated browser based email service from Yahoo was developed to be faster than the previous version.

Mayer mentioned that Yahoo had taken into consideration the comments of its users before redoing their mail service. She states it he blog post that, “You’ve told us loud and clear that you want fewer distractions when it comes to email. You want to quickly login, communicate, and get on with your day. And we’ve listened. Starting today, the new Yahoo! Mail is fast, easy and available anywhere you go. These improvements will be available on all major platforms: Web, Windows 8, iPhone/iPod touch and Android.”

She also talked about how much faster the new email would be by saying that, “getting through your emails is faster than ever before. We’ve also made your inbox more intuitive and easier to navigate, allowing you to focus on what matters most: your messages. And, because mobile is everything these days, Yahoo! Mail now has a consistent look and feel across devices.”

Mayer told users that they would be seeing the updated design and service in the next couple of days. She also asked users to download the mobile app for Yahoo Mail and also leave comments so that the company could get customer feedback on the new changes.
