After releasing their famous game Angry Birds Star Wars for Android, iOS, Mac, Amazon Kindle Fire, PC, Windows 8 and Windows Phone on November 8th of this year, Rovio Entertainment has now quietly launched a beta version of this highly amusing game for famed social networking website, Facebook, where it already has more than 22.6 million fans.

Rovio Entertainment gave some hint of the release of Angry Birds Star Wars for Facebook some time ago and now it has fulfilled its promise by releasing the latest version of this famous Jedi inspired game.

Rovio Entertainment did not officially announce the release of Angry Birds Star Wars for Facebook. In fact, the news was leaked by Rovio Peter Vesterbacka, who posted a link of this latest edition of Angry Birds late last week (December 16, 2012) on his Twitter account. Perhaps the company did not want many Facebook users to try out this latest version of game before it is officially announced.

No matter what the case may be, by now more than 22.6 million fans of Angry Bird Star Wars on Facebook will get to play their favourite game without leaving the social network’s website. In addition to this, users will also get to enjoy spruced up graphics for this game, although they will not have the luxury of passing unlimited levels on this beta edition.

There is a high probability that Rovio might soon remove this restriction and Facebook users will be able to see more levels as well as features in the near future. Besides launching the beta version of Angry Birds, Rovio has also announced an Angry Birds holiday song. Moreover, the game developing company has spread the word that it will donate the revenues earned from the download of this song to the Save the Children Fund, so the non-government organization can build clubs for school children in third world countries.

Good on you Rovio and best of luck on Facebook’s platform.
