It has been nary a month since Apple launched the latest edition of its iconic iPad along with its smaller iteration, the 7.9 inches iPad Mini. Regardless of the short time frame, the rumour mill has already started tossing up stories regarding the next generation of this small tablet.

The first such prediction came by way of an RBC Capital Markets analyst, Doug Freedman, who has made it known that production of the next iPad Mini, is about to hit the assembly line. Moreover, this second generation of iPad Mini will sport Retina Display.

Freedman shared this piece of information through a note he had sent to investors, which states that “the gen-2 iPad mini is getting pulled in, and is likely to have several new suppliers, with Texas Instruments gaining content.”

In this note, the word “pulled” did not make much sense, but it appears that Freedman meant to say that Apple has already put the second generation of its iPad Mini into production. Thus far, the Cupertino company has not given out any official word regarding the upgraded tablet.

Based on this lack of official information, thus far there is no update available on the exact price or shipping date of next iPad Mini, except for Gene Munster of Piper Jaffrays’ prediction in which he claimed that this tablet will be released in March 2013.

Freeman was not the first person, who claimed that the next generation of iPad Mini with Retina Display would be launching before it is expected, as earlier a few other analysts have made similar claims.

Yet another notable prediction, this one from Digitimes, claims that the next edition of iPad Mini is going to be lighter in weight as well which Apple will make possible by taking out one of the LED light bars from the small tablet.
