According to several sources across the web, Apple will be launching their highly anticipated iPad Mini in late September of this year. The launch will bat clean up behind the most anticipated release of the year, Apple’s new iPhone 5 earlier that month.

The iPad Mini is the 7.85” version of the world’s most popular tablet. Offering a smaller, more travel friendly product, Apple is looking to take advantage of the fact that there are different size demands and needs for the various tablet users out there. The move might also have to do with Google’s wildly successful and acclaimed Nexus 7 tablet, which has sold out online regardless of Apple’s best attempts to slow their rival’s sales totals. The Nexus 7 sells for a smile worthy $199.

The 7” size range is also home to Amazon’s Kindle Fire, which is a strong pitch and quality product at a much lower price point than Apple’s current 9.7” iPad.

Although Steve Jobs lamented smaller tablets, there is little doubt that the world is ready for them. Rather than cannibalize current iPad sales, the smaller version is expected to invite new tablet customers with a different device and experience.

According to TechRadar, Foxconn and other Apple manufacturers have started to receive iPad Mini orders and will have 6 million devices ready for Q3. The device is expected to be very competitively prices, bringing the full iPad experience for what is estimated to be a $300 price tag.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is expected big things from the small tablet, predicting that it will sell 13 million units by the end of 2012.
