To date, all models of  Apple’s

iPhone have remained quite successful in the mobile phone market. In fact with each new iPhone, Apple has touched new highs in terms of sales despite the fact that the iPhone 4S and current iPhone 5 have faced a couple of strong setbacks. In 2011, several users complained that alarms they had set for New Year’s day did not go off , resulting in many people missing their wake up call in the morning.

Following that, Apple introduced its own map app for the first time in iPhone 5 and almost immediately following the launch many people from different parts of the world reported that the service was both incorrect and unpopular. The issues led to a fair deal of negative publicity that has cost the company this past year. Who can forget the Apple’s map app episode in Australia that left several tourists stranded in the desert area of the country. Samsung also took advantage of this situation and made fun of Apple by launching a guerrilla marketing campaign that held no punches.

Apple had barely lived down the insult when another technical hitch struck the California based firm following the celebration of  New Year ‘s eve. According to reports, the “Do Not Disturb” mode in iPhone 5 failed to switch itself off automatically.

As a result, all alerts and calls to users remained silenced in spite of the fact that people have scheduled the end and start time of this mode. These complaints have come from several iOS 6 users, who had turned on “Do Not Disturb” mode on their smartphone. Given the fact that the timing of the occurrence could not be any worse, it will be interesting to see shareholder and user opinion following the ill-needed mess up.
