Google’s Ingress is the very first reality game of its kind that is now swiftly gaining popularity in different countries of the world, including Canada. This augmented reality game is winning the hearts of Canadian game aficionados with its interesting theme, in spite of the fact that it is only available in beta version as of yet.

The game allows players to choose between two factions which then compete against each other in order to take control of their city’s portals using their Android devices. Of these two factions, one is called ‘the enlightened’ that is a force of mind-controlling power agents and the other is known as ‘the resistance’. Players, who wish to resist the mind-controlling power agents can join the resistance or vice versa.

Ingress basically uses the databases of Google that are comprised of different landmarks and monuments in a city and it attaches portals to them. The two groups of players then compete against each other in order to take over the control of these portals.

To do so players required a GPS enabled smartphone which will help them reach the locations physically just like using Field Trip on Google. Once a player manages to reach a portal, he or she can then take control, defend and attack their portals to spread the specific dogma of their group. Although the game has led to some issues, overall it appears to be a major hit.
