The other day the “Do Not Disturb” feature in Apple’s iOS 6 device caused lot of problem to several people when they missed their morning wake call because in spite of setting a start and end to this mode their alarm did go off.

On top of that, when iOS 6 users tried to turn off the “Do Not Disturb” feature they did not succeed, complicating the situation exponentially. Due to this reason, users who have turned this feature on also failed to receive phone calls from their contacts, as the “Do Not Disturb” feature allows users to put their notifications, calls and alerts on silent.

iOS 6 users had to face this frustrating situation on the very first morning of New Year. Apple has yet to mention any reason behind why this issue occured, but the iPhone maker has at least accepted that there is a problem with the “Do Not Disturb” feature of iOS 6 devices.

In their post on their forum Apple said that the issue with the “Do Not Disturb” mode in iOS 6 devices will fix itself after January 7, 2013. Here is the note from the Cupertino company:

“Do Not Disturb scheduling feature will resume normal functionality after January 7, 2013. Before this date, you should manually turn the Do Not Disturb feature on or off. To turn off the scheduling feature, tap Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb and switch Scheduled to Off.”

For the sake of the company’s reputation (Mr. Jobs must be rolling in his grave), lets hope the issue is fixed and remains so moving forward.
