Udemy, a virtual learning platform connecting instructors and students from different parts of the world, has launched a new programme, Teach 2013, bringing an innovative measure to make learning more diverse.

Although a number of courses and lectures are available at Udemy, the authorities feel that there are many areas that are still untouched and that the students would want to learn them.

As a solution, Udemy has asked different professionals to come up with their own courses. This seems to be an interesting venture as these professionals will create their own course and then teach them as per their wish.

Eren Bali, Udemy’s co-founder and CEO, said of the new initiative:

“Imagine what we could accomplish if every expert shared his or her knowledge with the world. Offline instructors are now teaching millions of people around the world. But there are so many more subjects that students want to learn. We’re calling upon every expert to join us and teach the next generation, starting this year.”

Those who are interested in taking up this offer must submit their course details. Udemy will carry out an assessment to determine if the entry could be selected. The courses will be judged on several markers including production quality, and level of instructional design. If the course is accepted, Udemy will then provide all the necessary facilities to the trainer to ensure that the courses are presented effectively.

Some of the courses at Udemy are free, while some ask for fee. With respect to Teach 2013 programme, the instructor will receive 70 per cent of the revenue if their courses are not free.
