CES 2013 has seen technology giants showcase the future of television with 4K OLED Panels, Supersized OLEDs and more, leaving visitors mesmerised. LG though has gone one step further and unveiled its prototype curved OLED displays.

These ultra thin screens with a gentle inward flex on the edge are being claimed by LG as the first 3D capable OLED screen of its kind. Delivering an immersive 3D experience, the curved screens further enhance the standard 2D programming to deliver an overall mesmerising television experience.

The curved OLEDs utilises a four colour pixel system, WRGB which delivers better picture quality than the standard RGB. Thinner than anything on the market the curved OLED delivers excellent contrast ratio with distinct colours and deep black levels regardless of the ambient light. The slimmed down screen is possible thanks to OLED TVs ability to provide their own backlight.

In addition to brilliant picture quality the distinct curves also create the illusion that the viewer is being completely enveloped by the content. LG’s curved OLED displays have been gaining huge attention during CES but consumers still have to wait to get their hands on the screens.

LG has still not given any details on availability and pricing with the screens still in the prototype phase. The colours, high definition and picture quality delivered by the curved OLEDs are simply astounding and the screens can be expected to be a big hit when they are finally released to the market.

The CES exhibition in Las Vegas is helping companies deliver their vision of the future to consumers and from what we have been witnessing the future looks exceedingly bright.
