The new device will be powered by the very first Firefox Operating System (OS) and the two companies are already in talks with some European telecom carrier to develop partnerships for the launch of the phone in the region.

Initially Firefox OS will come in an entry-level or low-priced smartphones because in this way they will be able to compete with the massive demand for Android powered phones in the market.

This news came directly from the Chief Executive Officer of ZTE in USA, Cheng Lixin, who said that if there would be an interest and demand for the Firefox OS smartphone then, ZTE could introduce this mobile phone in US as well. As his exact words were, “If that is ready and if consumer studies support that data, then we may launch one in U.S. also this year.”

In addition to this the Vice President of Products in Mozilla, Jay Sullivan has also said that his company is working with TCL, a China based manufacturer along with Qualcomm and ZTE to produce the first Firefox OS smartphone. Moreover, Tomson Li Dongsheng, TCL’s Chairman has also confirmed that they have joined hands with Mozilla. All these confirmations from the executives of these companies, verifies that the reports of producing first Firefox OS based smartphone are true.
