Several manufacturers showcased new and unique technologies at the 2013 Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas during the second week of January. One of these innovative technologies was the Magic Cube, which was specifically designed for tablet and smartphone users who do not like to carry a full-size keyboard with them at all times. The Magic Cube basically displays a full virtual key board along with a multi-touch mouse on roughly any plane surface that enables tablet and smartphone holders to use it anywhere and at anytime exactly like a real keyboard or mouse.

This virtual mouse and keyboard is projected on to the surface and the red colored outlines are easy to see in any light condition. The Magic Cube incorporates an optical sensor that spots the position of the fingers in order to determine which keys a user is pressing and how the user is moving the multi-touch mouse. This small cube is manufactured by Celluon and it is compatible with devices which run on Mac OS 10 or above, iOS 4 or above, Windows XP to 7 and Android 2.2 or above.

The Magic Cube can establish a connection with a mobile device via Bluetooth, while with Mac and Windows based computers it can be paired through USB. This small device is certainly easier to carry when compared to a full-size keyboard and mouse. In spite of the fact that the projected keyboard is not tangible, the devices mobility will be a major selling point for users.

However, it still makes a click sound when the user presses a key, which makes him or her feel that they are actually typing. To the extent its accuracy is concerned a 9to5Mac columnist has used the keyboard from Magic Cube and according to that writer only one typo was observed of 100 words, which was really impressive.

Consumers can get the Magic Cube directly from Celluon for $149. Besides this it is also available through Amazon for $115, where up till now Magic Cube has received 3.9 stars out of 5.
