With just one week left in the launch of Research In Motion’s much talked about Blackberry 10 platform and devices the company has kept up the momentum of its app store by bringing in as many new apps as possible. With each passing day a new company announces that they are ready to launch their Blackberry 10 apps. Recently, a number of Canadian companies have shown their support for RIM’s BB10 platform and the Waterloo-based company told MobileSyrup that Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment (Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Marlies, Toronto FC, Toronto Raptors), The Weather Network, TimmyMe, InsureRight, President’s Choice Recipe Box and Air Canada will be releasing BB10 apps.
The VP of Global Alliances & Business Development at RIM, Martyn Mallick noted that “Over the past few months, we have seen tremendous enthusiasm and anticipation from developers around the globe, and especially here on our home soil. We have worked closely with Canadian developers to bring the brands Canadians love to the mobile space so their content and services can be accessed anywhere, anytime.”
This means that the recently rebranded app store from RIM, Blackberry World will see more apps with the advent of these local companies, which will also help it in achieving the 70,000 apps goal before the launch of BB10 devices on January 30, Wednesday. Demos of a few popular apps like Facebook, Foursquare, Twitter and LinkedIn on RIM’s forthcoming devices have already surfaced thanks to leaked images.
