Leading software maker, Microsoft, stated on Wednesday, January 23 that it is releasing the 64GB and 128GB editions of Surface Windows 8 Pro tablet in Canada on February 9. Consumers in The True North have been waiting for the new edition of Surface tablet for a long time just like in other parts of the world and now they will finally be able to get their hands on the device in a few weeks time. The premium slate looks similar to the previous edition or Surface RT. Howevre, the intern specs are spruced up and include an x86-based Core i5 chip, 10.6-inch 1920×1080 pixel screen, 4GB RAM, 64-128GB internal storage, mini DisplayPort and a USB 3.0 port. Besides this the Surface Windows 8 Pro also has a pen input and packs a 42Whr battery.
Due to these improved features one can very much call Surface Windows 8 Pro a laptop. Moreover, the full edition of Windows 8 installed in this tablet allows it to run all apps from Windows 7. This means that apps which are still not available on Windows Store can be downloaded on to the tablet. As far as the price tag is concerned Canadian will have to pay $919 for the 64GB model and $1019 for the 128 GB edition of Surface Windows 8 Pro. The price will not include a Type or Touch Cover and buyers have to purchase them separately for $139 and $129 respectively.
Aside from this, it was also reported that Microsoft is bringing in a new standalone 64GB Surface RT that will bear a price tag of $619. At this point in time, the current 64GB model in Surface RT with Touch Cover costs buyers in Canada a cool $719. But the forthcoming edition of this device will enable Canadians to get a Touch Cover in colour except black for just $10 more, but a Type Cover will cost them more at $139.99.
Microsoft will introduce three special editions Touch Covers for Surface Windows 8 Pro in cyan, red and magenta that will cost a buyer $139.99, whereas the black Type Cover will also be available and bear the same price. Microsoft’s Store in Yorkdale Mall and its pop-up stores across the country will put up Surface Windows 8 Pro for sale. In addition to this, buyers will also be able to get it from Microsoft’s online store.
