According to sources of Canadian website Cantech Letter, Reaserch in Motion is not done cutting jobs. The moribund company, who recently announced plans to lay off 5,000 employees, nearly one third of its staff is rumoured to be cutting 3,000 of those jobs come August 13th.

The decision and date are before the company’s Q2 results, which could have a damning effect on the stock price and market perception with another quarter of meager sales and weakening market share. Q2 results are to be announced following the period’s end date of August 31. According to Cantech’s sources, the 3,000 effected employees will be notified on the day of the 13th. Areas that will be impacted by the cuts include customer service, human resources, marketing, and non-enterprise sales.

The expectation is that employees who are working on BlackBerry 10 and enterprise sales are considered to be in a safe position. This has to do with the fact that RIM is betting heavily on their new operating platform, hoping its early 2013 release will create a change of fortune.

The 5,000 jobs were part of RIM’s plan to cut $1 billion in expenses during this tumultuous time for the company.
