A recent LinkedIn event invitation confirms that Amazon is continuing to hire on Canada’s West Coast for two of their business lines. As mentioned by an earlier TQ piece, both Amazon Web Services along with Amazon Silk, the teams that held a prior event that led to some hiring are back at it again.

Amazon Silk is the company’s tablet browser, which is currently featured on the popular Kindle Fire. Given that Amazon is looking to add more tablets, including those of various sizes to their repertoire, the development of their browsing experience is paramount to their future success in the field.

The aptly named Networking Event, which is to be held on August 15, is an open invitation to the city’s tech community to attend and rub shoulders with their peers while discussing how the industry they are in is ever changing. It also represents an opportunity for said community to get some of their members hired by one of the planet’s biggest and most influential companies. The venue of choice is the Uber Lounge at Steamworks Brewery-Gastown, and the event appears to be the first of many coming the city’s way.
