In order to make its app store more enticing for BlackBerry users, Research In Motion has not only declared that they will make 70,000 apps available before the launch of the BB10 platform, it has also changed the name of the store from BlackBerry App World to just BlackBerry World. The Canadian company made this change because they believe that BlackBerry users will get more from this store than just apps, once the BB10 OS and devices are released. Initially the move from RIM did not make much sense, but now it is clear why this was one. According to the latest report, the Waterloo-based company has developed partnerships with several leading video and music companies to make its app store, BlackBerry World, more attractive for BlackBerry users. RIM has formed partnerships with Warner Music Group, Walt Disney Studios and Sony Pictures.
As a result of this newly developed partnership RIM will be able to offer TV shows, movies and songs to its customers via a newly overhauled Blackberry World. Countries like Canada, U.S. and the UK will be among the first few countries, which will be able to initially access rentals and video downloads from RIM’s app store. For the time being all eyes are focusing on the launch of BB10 devices that are slated for launch in January 30 in Toronto, US and some other parts of the globe.
Those, who cannot go down to these cities, can always access the live streaming for the launch.
