The International Consumers Electronics Show 2013 recently concluded in Las Vegas after introducing the general public to upcoming products and several new technologies. The event took place form January 8 and 11 and manufacturers showed their latest TVs, cameras or smartphones. A few fitness gadgets were also unveiled at the event which have been generating a lot of buzz including the iriver ON earbuds which were designed as a fitness sensor.
Wearers of the ear device can check their heart rate, calories, speed, distance covered, aerobic fitness level (VO2 max) and cadence with the help of the device and get real-time data. This latest fitness gadget is a product of iriver and Valencell, which presented the technology at the CES 2013.
The iriver ON earbuds device is described as “the first Bluetooth audio headset powered by Valencell’s PerformTek Precision Biometrics, a licensable sensor technology.” The makers of the device also claim that the fitness tracker can correctly keep tabs on more concurrent physiological data compared to any other device.
The ON erabud device will be made available for sale during this year in March and its retail prices will be $199. The iriver will also release its very own smartphone fitness app along with the product as a complimentary service.
