Recently a Twitter account dubbed as @BB10Leaks has revealed an interesting image that is related to BlackBerry. The image is basically showing a road map of BB10 for 2013 in which the sketch of the all-touch Z10 smartphone of BlackBerry can be clearly seen under the heading of first quarter of 2013, whereas the forthcoming Q10 that possess the traditional QWERTY keyboard is under the second quarter caption, which is not unusual because the Canadian smartphone manufacturer has already announced these two devices. The real attention grabbers in this picture are the third and fourth quarters, as two new devices can be seen under these captions. The outline of the two devices is completely different from the usual smartphones which is makes them more prominent. The outline of the device in the third quarter called B10L and is not much different than a tablet, as it seems to have a large screen. Whereas, the device set for the fourth quarter of 2013 by BlackBerry in this road map is different from the previous three as it looks more like a phablet because of its display size and it is called U10.
At this point in time, it cannot be said for sure that whether BlackBerry is working on a hybrid device like Samsung Galaxy Note II. However, as far as the tablet is concerned there is a high probability that Waterloo-based company is developing one because previously BlackBerry’s director of product management has made it known at an event that they are planning to roll out six different models of BlackBerry phones during 2013 besides a brand new PlayBook. On the other hand, BlackBerry’s CEO Thorsten Heins has said that to compete against the top rivals in the tablet market they need to offer something more to their users in order to add value to products. This gives the impression as if Heins and his team might not be ready to launch the next PlayBook till the third quarter.
To the extent U10 device is concerned it seems that this was the device that the CEO of BlackBerry said he was so excited about and they are looking to launch it in the holiday season of 2013. While the last device on the road map R10 that is set to launch sometime between first and second quarter of 2014 could be a mid range phone with QWERTY keyboard that has also been mentioned by the executives from BlackBerry.
