Several online sources had indicated that Apple is developing the second generation of its 7-inch iPad Mini and it is expected to make its debut some time at the end of this year. Unlike other forthcoming devices, the mysterious iPad Mini 2 has not made any appearances in leaked images, but its back cover has appeared in some reports but they were not too clear. However, now the aluminium back cover of the second gen iPad Mini has once again appeared in leaked images, but this time the photo shoot of the shell is in high resolution and it has unveiled minute details.
The new images have revealed that there is nothing new in the second gen of iPad Mini, when it comes to the design, as rear aluminium shell of the 7-inch slate is alike the current cellular version of iPad Mini. Given that the top of the back cover still has a plastic strip, which was especially designed to send and receive better signals. In addition, the rear camera location is also the same on the new aluminium back cover of iPad Mini 2 or whatever Apple will call it. The location for the new Lighting port, volume buttons and even the stereo speakers are also alike the original iPad Mini.
This suggests that Apple has not decided to change the design of second generation of iPad Mini that is likely to see the first light during this year. However, this does not mean that there would not be any major changes in the next gen iPad Mini. It could be judged from the fact that Google has recently launched the new edition of its Nexus 7 tablet and it sports a very high resolution display. So now if Apple does not put Retina display in iPad Mini 2, it will bring the company under tremendous pressure, as it can affect the sales of its 7-inch tablet.
Therefore, Retina display is going to be the one big change that we are expecting to see in the second generation of the iPad Mini apart from some other hardware upgrades such as new and improved chipset and more. To the extent credibility of the new leaked images are concerned they look valid and it is anticipated that till the launch of iPad Mini 2, we expect to see several more leaked photos of the iOS tablet, which may give us a better idea of the forthcoming device.
