The flight attendants for American Airlines have gotten 33,000 tablets which were given to them by the airline so they could not only remain up to date about flight information, but they could also know about the personal preferences of passengers and have answers to the questions related to connecting flights on hand. American Airlines also provided 10,000 iPads to its pilots and it seemed that Apple’s slate would be the first choice of the airline when it was looking to buy more mobile devices for its staff. However, that did not happen because the airline decided to go with Samsung’s tablet and hybrid devices. The air carrier announced today that it had gotten 23,000 Samsung tablets and 17,000 were Galaxy Notes which are also known as phablet because it is a hybrid of a tablet and smartphone.

American Airlines bought the 17,000 Galaxy Notes last fall after the airline concluded months long testing of various devices and analysed the feedback of its flight attendants. Managing Director of Operations at American Airlines, Lisa Canada said that, “We felt that Samsung’s tablets were best suited to our enterprise environment, plus we were able to make customizations to fit our needs.”

In addition to this, “Samsung for Enterprise” SAFE has added management features and security to all Galaxy devices that gave American Airlines the safety they were looking for. Canada said that, “Our priority is to make serving our customers easy and as intuitive as possible. This includes efforts such as rolling out tablets that simplify and modernize the American experience.”

American Airlines has provided the Samsung Galaxy Tab to its business class passengers so they can enjoy premium entertainment on board. Plus the maintenance team of the airline was also given the same slate so they could quickly fix any issue, says Canada.

This clearly indicates that Samsung’s tablets are giving Apple’s iPad a good run for their money not only because they are more affordable, but also because now the South Korean manufacturer has tweaked its features and security for enterprise firms. On top of it to confront the iPad Mini, Samsung has now jumped into the 8-inch slate market as well by launching its Galaxy Note 8.0 phablet that has features quite alike the 5-inch Galaxy Note II.

With this wide collection of tablets in different sizes Samsung is surely gearing up to dominate the slates market where the competition is getting intense with the passage of time.
