It seems that the all-touch Z10 smartphone was not the only new line of smartphones that BlackBerry has planned to launch during this year. Reports indicate that in order to bounce back in the smartphone game, the Waterloo-based company seems to be working on a phablet just like the Samsung Galaxy Note II and LG Optimus Pro G. This claim has been made by Jefferies’ analyst Peter Misek, as according to him, BlackBerry will also jump into the phablet market by producing a larger display smartphone during this year. Misek claims that the size of that BlackBerry 10 device will be 5-inch. In addition to this, Misek also asserted that the design of the 5-inch BB10 device will not be different than the Z10, except that it will be bigger than the all-touch device. The Jefferies analyst has made this claim in his recent research report, which he sent to his clients.
This claim seems to make sense because a few weeks ago CEO of BlackBerry Thorsten Heins has said that, “There’s one new product I’m really excited about, but I can’t really share it… It takes BlackBerry 10 to another level in terms of the user experience.” According to Heins this new device will probably make its debut during the holiday season of 2013. Besides this, BlackBerry’s director of product management, Mike Al Mefleh has also gave a hint about his company’s future products at an event in Middle East by saying that the Canadian company will probably roll out six new BB10 devices during 2013, including a brand new PlayBook.
Soon BlackBerry is going to make its physical QWERTY keyboard smartphone the BlacKBerry Q10 available for sale in different markets across the world at the end of April, including Canada. As far as the rest of the BB10 devices are concerned recently we at TQ have shown you an alleged road map of BlackBerry according to which after the release of the Q10, a B10 or next PlayBook will make its debut sometime between the third and the fourth quarter. After that a phablet like device called the U10 will be released between the last quarter of 2013 and the first quarter of 2014.
This suggests that Misek’s report regarding the 5-inch device of BlackBerry is believable, but only to an extent because at this point in time nothing is official . Therefore, we have to wait for a more credible report or an official confirmation from BlackBerry itself.
