Macs are no longer on the priority list for Apple because the company’s revenue does not depend much on sales of the computing devices anymore. Howevr, according to Gene Munster, an analyst for Piper Jaffray, its recent sales will positively affect the second quarter earnings of the Cupertino-based company. An AllThingsD report has divulged that Munster has recently issued a research note which states that the domestic sales of Apple’s Mac remained stable during April which is a “neutral to slight positive” signal for the California-based tech giant. This can also be termed as good news for the company because ultimately its sales translate into better earnings.

Macs managed to see steady sales figures even though supply issues forced Apple not to ship the product in time, which hampered its sales. Now the devices are easily available in stores, which will most likely give Apple’s second quarter’s earnings a decent boost. However, CEO of Apple, Tim Cook has repeatedly said that iPad is now the actual growth engine of his company and not the Macs.

Back in January, Cook said that, “With iPad in particular, we have the mother of all opportunities because the Windows market is much, much larger than the Mac market is. And I think it is clear that it’s already cannibalizing some, and I think there’s a tremendous amount of more opportunity there. As you know I’ve said for two or three years now that I believe the tablet market will be larger than the PC market at some point, and I still believe that”.

Apple’s iPads are surely doing well in the tablet market and it is because of this very reason the company has introduced its 8-inch version during last year, which was also warmly greeted by the users across the world. And now Apple is getting ready to introduce the fifth generation of the 10-inch iPad and the second gen of iPad Mini that is expected to boast Retina display.

Therefore, it is believed that as long as the iOS device maker will continue to consider iPad as “mother of all opportunities”, the ever weakening sales of Macs will not hurt Apple. At the same time Apple is also focusing on developing new products, as Cook mentioned during an investors meeting, which is a good sign. For the reason that it is necessary for every tech company to create new innovations, as it will not only keeps them alive, but also keep them ahead of their competitors in the market.
