It is expected that Apple Inc. will launch two new iPhones in September as numerous reports suggests that one of them is going to be the successor of the iPhone 5 and it will most probably be called iPhone 5S, while the other model will be the low-cost version of of Cupertino-based company’s flagship smartphone, it is referred as iPhone 5C. If the reports regarding the iPhone 5C prove true, then it would be the first time Apple will roll out a low-cost smartphone with a plastic cover. It is anticipated that Apple has developed the low-cost iPhone 5C to boost its market share in markets like China and it seems that analysts also believe that it will do well. Katy Huberty, an analyst at Morgan Stanley, has mentioned in her latest research note to investors that inexpensive version of iPhone will prove quite successful for the company. The analyst also claimed that low-cost iPhone will help Apple achieve the eagerly wanted number one position in Chinese cellphone market.
Recently Alphawise when asked 2,000 Chinese mobile users whether they will buy Apple’s low-cost iPhone 5C during a survey in the country, majority of them said yes. This led Alphawise to the view that iPhone 5C is going to see exceptional sales in China, as it has a huge demand. Apple’s low-cost smartphone’s demand can also be judged from the fact that Chinese mobile subscribers are even ready to pay as high as $486 for the iPhone 5C that is 22 percent higher than what Huberty believe iOS device maker will price it.
Besides this, the survey also suggested that with the introduction of iPhone 5C, Apple will also be able to boost its unit share by 13 percent. This does not include the latest China Mobile deal, which according to an estimate likely to lure 29 percent potential buyers of the iPhone. In brief, it is highly likely that the new iPhone 5C would aid Apple to gain more market share in China, which according to CEO Tim Cook is one of the biggest mobile markets of the world and they have deep interest in it.
So iPhone 5C would help the cause and it could possible hit the market share of Samsung in China. If this happens then it could also balance the drop in the fame of Apple in China, where currently Samsung is clearly dominating the mobile market.
