Peter Misek, a Jeffries’ analysts who is known for his bold claims regarding Apple’s future products, asserted back in January this year that iPhone 5S would hit the production line in March 2013 and it is expected to make its debut in June or July. Now the analyst from Jefferies has rolled out a fresh note to his clients on Tuesday, March 12, which was first reported by StreetInsider, in which he has claimed that Apple could delay iPhone 5S till September, as the company is having problems with suppliers for the new colour casings of the smartphone. In addition, the Misek also slashed the target price of Apple’s stock from $500 to $420, “while noting that Apple will likely miss guidance with slow sales following the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 launch,” according to 9to5Mac.

In fact Misek has likened the Cupertino-based company with the Motorola, HTC and BlackBerry, as he said that, “historically when handset makers fall out of favour (e.g., the RAZR, BBRY, HTC) they fall faster/further than expected.” Besides this, Misek also believes that the cheaper version of iPhone could be made available for sale as high as $450 because the handset is likely to feature high-end specs than originally expected:

“The firm’s checks indicate Apple’s suppliers are having problems with the new casing colors leading to a push out from Jun to Jul-Sep after Apple hoped to pull forward the update. Checks also indicate pricing of the low-cost iPhone will be $350-$450 as some of the specs are higher-end than we expected (e.g., 4″ incell retina display, same app processor as the 5S). The main difference is the housing (plastic vs. aluminum). They estimate mid-40%s GM for the 5S and low 30%s for the low-cost.”

However, previously numerous analyst including Misek have claimed that the inexpensive version of iPhone would be offered at a price between $250 and $350. To the extent the much-talked about fingerprint technology in the next iPhone is concerned, Misek thinks that Apple could integrate the future tech not only in iPhone 5S, but in iPhone 6 as well, with latter expected to see the first light in the first quarter of next year.

“The iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 may not be enough, according to the analyst. The phones could have fingerprint technology and we believe Apple is trying to move the iPhone 6 launch to CQ1 to stop the hemorrhaging to phablets.”

Misek was the first analyst, who had claimed that the next iPhone will come in 6 to 8 colours and it will feature an improved camera, battery and NFC technology. StreetInsider has also reported that Misek has also predicted on March 12th that Apple is likely to bring in a Retina iPad mini, whereas for the 9.7-inch traditional iPad the company may switch to an IGZO display and would be made available for sale by CQ3.
