Cupertino, California’s Apple is to be commended for extending their useful Volume Purchase Program (VPP) to nine new countries. The news came by way of public notice announcement on Apple’s developer website and the news includes Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, the United Kingdom and Canada.
The program was created to allow developers of iOS applications to sell their apps to schools and other educational institutions at discounted bulk prices. This feature allows schools and their boards, the majority of which struggle with budget constraints to purchase more from Apple as they integrate their desktop and iPad devices in class.
The program also has development for business and enterprise users in mind as well. The VPP allows apps created for companies and their workforce to be discounted in price as well. This of course is a mutually beneficial arrangement for both developer and end user as volume and incentive are increased thanks to the VPP.
Until yesterday, the program was only available in the U.S. Good on you Apple for extending this wonderful program to allow for schools and businesses to better harness technology to improve what they do.
