When J.D. Power and Associates carried out their 2013 US Wireless Smartphone Satisfaction survey last month California-based tech giant Apple managed to achieve the highest rank for the ninth consecutive time. The Cupertino-based company once again gained the top spot for the second time on Thursday, April 25th when J.D. Power and Associates released its fresh owner satisfaction with tablet devices survey. However, the latest survey did not just reveal the top achievers, in fact, it also divulged that 94 percent of tablet owners, who are fully satisfied with their slates will most probably buy other electronic devices from the same company.
The survey included only those tablet owners, who had one for a year or less and are fully satisfied with the device. In addition, it counted five factors including performance (26%); styling and design (19%); ease of operation (22%); cost (16%) and features (17%) to rate the manufacturer. J.D. Power and Associates’ survey also mentioned that 51 percent of the tablet owners give their slates to minimum one other person for use. Surprisingly, the overall satisfaction level is 824 points out of 1,000 points when a tablet is used by single person that is 28 points less than when a slate is being used by four or more users.
J.D. Power and Associates’ senior director of telecommunications services, Kirk Parsons said that, “It is somewhat unexpected to find that although 64 percent of tablet owners were the sole decision-maker involved in their device purchase, many of them share their tablet with someone else. It is important that manufacturers understand this dynamic and try to provide an exceptional experience for all users since this may improve future business prospects, as high satisfaction through sharing a tablet device may result in owners handing down their tablet to a family member or friend, and the likelihood of repurchasing a new tablet from the same brand and running the same operating system increases.”
“In fact, 41 percent of tablet owners who share their device among four or more persons indicate they “definitely will” repurchase their next tablet from their current tablet manufacturer, compared with 28 percent among those who do not share their device with any other person.”
Apple managed to gain the top position with 836 points, but its arch rival Amazon was not too far away from it in the ranking, as the e-commerce giant grasped the second place on the chart by achieving 829 points. Amazon was able to make it that far because of its Kindle tablets, which have done well because of their low cost.
