We know that Apple is busy developing new products for us, which will boast exciting features, but do you know that company is also working on its top apps like iMessage and FaceTime in order to improve them significantly? Yes this true and the California-based tech giant has listed a job opening on Tuesday, March 26th for Communications Application Engineer. According to AppleBitch the ad for the job indicates that Apple wants to improve its iMessage and FaceTime apps for the next edition of iOS software. As per the description of the ad, Apple wants to hire a person who is willing to ‘take the revolutionary iPhone to the next level’ and will be in charge for putting the new features into the existing iMessage and FaceTime apps. Speculation suggest that Apple is perhaps looking to add new features to its video calling app, FaceTime so it could compete against other services such as Skype that boast group video calling feature.
In the same way, Apple may also want to increase the number of users using iMessage that is being used to send messages so it could give a tough time to its rival messaging apps such as WhatsApp that possesses a lot bigger user base thanks to its cross-platform compatibility.
In general, the new job listing suggests that Apple is gearing up to once again lure its customers by bringing in exciting products, which may feature updated versions of popular apps. For the reason that the Cupertino-based company is well aware of the competition, as rival platforms, especially Google’s Android has been offering apps to its users that offer more to them in contrast to Apple.
Along with new hardware components for its upcoming devices, Apple is also paying attention to its apps because an ecosystem is incomplete if quality software or hardware is missing. Previous smartphones from BlackBerry are good example in this regard, as the Waterloo-based company lost a big chunk of its market share to Apple and Android powered handsets because its app catalogue did not have a decent number of apps.
When the Canadian company launched its latest Blackberry 10, CEO Thorsten Heins and his team did not forget to bring thousands of apps to their platform. Initially, BlackBerry World offered 70,000 apps, but now it has surpassed the 100,000 mark just before the launch of BB10 in the US. Still BlackBerry World is behind Apple’s App Store, as now it boasts 800,000 apps.
