According to MacRumors, an analyst at KGI Securities named Ming-Chi Kuo has issued a report on Thursday, April 11, which claims that Apple may hold-up the launch of their inexpensive iPhone version, iPhone 5S and the next generation of iPad Mini with possible Retina Display because of some production issues that the California-based tech giant is currently facing. In contrast to the previous predictions made the by the analyst and echoed by general market, Kuo said that Apple may not be able to ship the mass number of products during the third quarter and its shipments expected to remain quite small.
However, it’s too early to think about the delay of the cheaper iPhone, iPhone 5S and next gen iPad Mini because none of these products have been announced by Apple until now. Therefore, claims of delays are just pertinent to the usual market expectations. Mentioning the details of challenges that Apple is currently facing, Kuo has revealed the following issues:
“- Fingerprint sensor for iPhone 5S. Work on finding the right colour coatings in order to prevent interference with the sensor offers a technical challenge for Apple, and software integration in iOS 7 will also require additional work.
– Colour coatings for lower-cost iPhone. Apple’s lower-cost iPhone has been rumoured to be arriving with a plastic shell in a number of different colours, and Apple’s efforts to keep the shell as thin as possible will likely lead to production ramping issues for coatings and surface treatments.
– iPad mini Retina display. Kuo expects the second-generation iPad mini to adopt a Retina display, and technical challenges related to its design and manufacture are likely to slow Apple’s release timetable.”
“Subsequently, Kuo predicts that Apple will see less than 10% growth of total iOS device shipments year-over-year for Q3 of 2013, which is far below current market expectations of 30-40% growth,” according to iPhoneinCanada.
At this point in time it cannot be said for sure whether these predictions by Kuo are valid or not, as they have yet to receive confirmation. Nevertheless, one positive thing about Kuo’s and other authors reports claiming details about future products from Apple is that the Cupertino-based company is certainly has something up its sleeve otherwise we might not get to hear so many rumours.
Therefore, it would not surprise many if Apple announces an inexpensive iPhone, iPhone 5S or next gen iPad Mini in the coming months.
