It is no secret that Apple is deeply interested in re-inventing TV and CEO Tim Cook hinted sometime ago that, “When I go into my living room and turn on the TV, I feel like I have gone backwards in time by 20 to 30 years. It’s an area of intense interest. I can’t say more than that.” At this point in time there is no further official update on the next gen Apple TV, but the current set-top-box from the California-based company will soon be receiving some new content. According to the latest report from Bloomberg HBO and Apple have joined hands to make HBO Go content available on Apple TV.
“Cable and satellite subscribers who pay for HBO will be able to watch more than 600 hours of films and television shows on Apple TV, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the talks are private. Apple TV is a set-top device that streams content purchased on iTunes and via other online services to consumers’ televisions.”
As a result of this association, HBO Go content will be made available on Apple TV someday during the first half of this year, according to the latest report. Prior to this understanding between the two companies, HBO is offering an iOS app so the iOS users can avail its services.
At this point in time, Apple TV not only supports iTunes content, but it also features YouTube, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Wall Street Journal content and a variety of sports networks.
