It has been known for quite some time now that tech giant Apple is looking to build a brand new spaceship-like campus one mile away from company’s original One Infinite Loop campus. However, the California-based company is facing a lot of challenges in the construction of its much talked about building and initially plans were delayed due to changes in the original proposal and several reports indicated that the cost of the building has surpassed the original estimate. Later in May 2012 some people, who resides close to the 2.8 million square feet area that Apple has dedicated for its spaceship-like campus, raised voices due to concerns over the project. As a result of that CFO of Apple, Peter Oppenheimer, sent a brochure to the local residents so they could ease their concerns regarding the new campus building of the Cupertino-based company. Therefore, when Apple updated the plans of spaceship-like campus last week it has once again mailed the brochure to local residents.

The latest updated plan of the second campus of Apple shows bike and walk trials along with several other specifics over the site. Moreover, the mailer from Apple also shows the positive impacts the new building will have on the environment, according to MacRumours. Here is the description from Apple’s latest brochure:

“At Apple, the environment is a top priority, and we’ve designed Apple Campus 2 with cutting-edge features to make it energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable. Several of these green technologies are highlighted in this update.

As at our existing campus on Infinite Loop, we are committed to 100% renewable energy to power Apple Campus 2. This will include onsite generation from photovoltaics and fuel cells. As part of this effort, approximately 8 megawatts of photovoltaics will be installed, creating one the largest installations of its kind on a corporate campus anywhere in the world.

Apple started in Cupertino, and we are excited to continue to grow here. As we build the new campus, we also plan to invest in new roadways and intersection improvements, add new sidewalks and better bike lanes, and plant new trees in newly created medians in the surrounding neighbourhood.”

Once Apple’s spaceship-like campus gets completed it is going to be the biggest dwelling in the entire world, which can be judged from the fact that it covers 2.8 million square feet of land which includes 14,200 parking spots, while the structure of the building will be mainly built from glass and it will be surrounded by lots of grass and trees.
