More and more applications continue to be added to the Windows Store each day. As Windows 8 continues to become more and more common on new PCs and tablets, developers are putting out more applications to appeal to tap this growing market.

According to the latest statistics calculated by MetroStore Scanner the number of applications available at the store will soon grow to 40,000. That figure is set to be reached by tomorrow by the Windows Store showcasing Microsoft’s ability to attract developers to build apps for the store.

MetroStore Scanner also shows that since December 27 more than 5,000 new applications have been added to the store with 156 added per day. With the speed with which new applications are being added the store by tomorrow will be boasting 40,000 applications.

Although the rate at which applications were being added to the store have declined significantly from the rate reached before the Windows Store content is still growing at a rapid pace. Previously Microsoft revealed in the weeks before the holiday season that it had added 14,557 apps in just 35 days helping the Windows Store reach the 35,000 app mark before the holiday season began.

The rate now though has declined significantly and the store may not be able to meet many predictions of reaching 50,000 apps at the start of February.

With the release of Windows 8, the Windows Store was first revealed to the public. Windows 8 is a huge shift away from the traditional Windows PC experience replacing the iconic Start button that has defined the operating system over many past decades.
